The Teenage Cancer Trust

The charity specialises in creating high-quality care units, which are the perfect environment to provide treatment and support, catering to the unique needs of each and every of the young people they support. They plan their units down to the tiniest detail in order to maintain a pleasant and comfortable environment; incorporating social spaces, TV’s, games consoles, pool tables and jukeboxes. The emphasis is on giving young people a chance to be their self despite a diagnosis of cancer, and to feel at home somewhere where they can get all the care they need as well as relax with friends and family. We believe this is so important, especially at Christmas time.

Teenage cancer trust also use donations to pay for specialist care professionals to treat their patients; a £20 donations could pay for an hours one-on-one consultation with a specialist youth support worker, or £25 could help a young person see a specialist cancer nurse. This access to some of the country’s best medical professionals can be essentials to a young person’s recovery, and to maintaining their quality of life along the way.

The Links team will also be supporting Teenage Cancer Trust, as our chosen charity, through various events in 2015. Look out for any information on our news feed.

Student Accommodation Conference 2014

We have created a fantastic student space (alongside some friends of Links) to showcase what you are able to offer students within a limited space, the design team really have done a fantastic job with this year’s stand.

The team are looking forward to catching up with clients and really promoting their unique offering to potential clients. Our ability to design, manufacture and install, not just bedroom and kitchen spaces but receptions, management suites and most importantly communal areas, keeping the student experience at the forefront of everything we do, really sets us apart.

The team will also be giving away some fantastic early Christmas presents, be sure to visit the stand and take away a free ‘selfie stick’! We look forward to seeing you all there.

The Class of 2020 Conference – Amsterdam

The much talked about ‘Student Hotel’ was the last stop and the delegates enjoyed some great hospitality in a fantastic student communal space. It really highlighted what can be achieved if you get the design right.

The actual conference made for a very interesting day, there were many topics covered including market updates from Europe and an insight into the different European cultures and how they can affect the accommodation. Needless to say, the message that was being sent out was that there is a significant under-supply of purpose built student accommodation across Europe’s key countries.

ASRA 2014

The conference and exhibition offers suppliers the opportunity to showcase their services to the universities and private accommodation providers, the exhibition was sold out and there were some fantastic stands on show. Over the 3 days there is time to catch up with existing clients, usually in the evenings over a drink or two, or three……. On Monday evening ASRA took the delegates to the National Railway Museum where they hosted a fantastic 3 course meal and on the Tuesday the conference was concluded with the Black and White Ball awards evening.

Links had a fantastic conference and enjoyed presenting the universities with their unique full turn-key solution which offers full control over Design, Manufacture, Installation and After Care. If some of the delegates weren’t aware of Lawrence at the beginning of the conference they most certainly were by the end, some responsibility must lie with Tom and Simon from Campus Life for giving Lawrence a starring role in their conference closing video!

Looking forward Links will be attending and exhibiting at the annual CUBO Conference which is being held at Royal Holloway, University of London between Wednesday 2nd July and Friday 4th July. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Closing Stages of ‘UNITE Stratford One’

Working on behalf of Westfield, Links have been responsible for the manufacture and installation of over 100 kitchens and over 1000 bed spaces, all of which are en-suite. The site boasts large roof terraces with panoramic views across London and the Olympic Park, and common areas and quiet study rooms offer students a place to socialise and meet new people.

UNITE maintain a huge presence within the student accommodation sector and ‘Stratford One’ will be a strong addition to their existing portfolio. Links were proud to be associated with UNITE and Westfield, two companies who are leading the way in their respective markets.

BIM Implementation Project

The programme’s purpose is to provide state-of-the-art expertise enabling Links to realise the full potential of BIM; bringing improved collaborative engagement with our supply chain and increasing value to our clients.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is the process of generating and managing information about a building during its life cycle. A BIM model contains the geometry of a building and structured data about the proprieties of its component, construction and maintenance.

BIM has been described as one of the most promising developments in the construction industry to generate higher efficiency and productivity, while decreasing waste and consumption of energy and raw materials.

In the UK, the Government Construction Strategy and BIM Taskforce Police, will be making BIM essential for all public contracts by 2016. Links are already on the front foot in achieving this standard of practice sooner rather than later.

National Student Housing Awards 2013

Continued success has been highlighted through the National Student Housing Survey; where students have a chance to share how satisfied they are while indicating how strongly clients are performing in specific areas. The reviews were gathered from 20,000 students across 190 universities/colleges giving a clear reflection on the high performers.

For a second consecutive year, Victoria Hall has received the prestigious ‘Best Value for Money’ award. This is a true reflection on how well Victoria Hall have chosen their resources and joined forces with Links Project Management to complete all projects in a timely manner. Links understand the importance of maintaining high standards keeping quality high and costs low. This is why Victoria Hall has once again selected our services and expertise within the Student Accommodation sector.

‘Affordable Housing for Students’ has been a catchword that Victoria Hall and Links Project Management have proudly undertaken by providing comfortable, top quality accommodation for all students. This driving force has ensured that Victoria Hall has positively been rated by students; specifically for its bedroom design and quality accommodation.

New Project Factory

Just south of Kaunas, Lithuania, the 2500square metered factory comprises of the latest machinery for manufacturing furniture including high standard Lipping, drilling and cutting machines. For storage, there is a fabulously structured 1000square metered warehouse which has already proved to increase our efficiency and productivity levels throughout the summer.

This is an exciting time period for Links due to the fundamental principles of the company being put in place, with a shared effort of expanding the company to meet progressively high demands. Production levels have increased exponentially for all projects undertaken meaning; there is no job too big for Links to handle.

Bronze Accreditation: Investors In People

Through the process of Estimating and Project Management, to Delivery and Construction – Investors In People have helped transform our business performances by offering advice and guidance with a framework supporting all our actions.

IIP Assessor Carol Davidson had this to say “Links have such a diverse amount of poeple all pulling the same way with the core values underpinning their work”

It fully justifies our approach as an Interior Design Organisation; wanting to help others with specific tasks that need completing. Links are going to continue to work hard and set the standards high with the support from Investors In People.
